Sarthi — Privacy Policy

What Sarthi is

Sarthi is a text-only devotional companion. You write about a situation in your life; Sarthi replies with teaching drawn from public-domain translations of Krishna's source texts. It is available on the web and on WhatsApp. Sarthi is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice.

What we collect and why

Messages you send are processed solely to generate a reply. On the web, a short rolling conversation history (roughly the last few exchanges) is kept in server memory only, so replies have context; it is never written to disk and disappears when the session ends or the server restarts. On WhatsApp, your phone number is used only to deliver replies to you and to apply fair-use rate limits, together with the same transient in-memory history.

Operational logs record metadata (timestamps, counters, error states) to keep the service healthy and prevent abuse. We do not build profiles of users, and we do not use your conversations for advertising or sell or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.

If you choose to tell Sarthi about your life

On WhatsApp you may send about me and then write, in your own words, whatever you wish Sarthi to hold — who you are, what you are carrying. This is the one thing you write that is stored rather than forgotten. It is kept so that later replies can be shaped to your situation without you having to explain it again.

This is entirely optional and nothing is stored until you ask to tell it. Only the words you type are kept — we do not infer anything about you, do not build a profile from your conversations, and do not use it for anything except shaping your own replies. It is stored against a one-way cryptographic hash of your number rather than the number itself. Send what do you know about me to see exactly what is held, and forget me to erase it immediately and completely.

Services we rely on

Sarthi runs on Google Cloud. To generate replies, your message text is sent to a language-model provider (currently via OpenRouter) for processing and is subject to their processing terms; we send no identity beyond the message itself. If you use Sarthi on WhatsApp, delivery of messages is handled by Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform under Meta's own terms and privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

Conversation content is transient by design: it lives only in server memory and is erased automatically. The single exception is the optional "about me" description described above, which is kept until you erase it with forget me. There is no account, and nothing to log into. If you want any operational record connected to your WhatsApp number reviewed or deleted, email us at the address below and we will handle it promptly. You can also simply block or delete the chat in WhatsApp at any time.

Children

Sarthi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date below.
